
Controls Software Developer / Project Manager (m/f)
About the role
Our team focuses on developing control systems for accelerators intended for research and industrial applications. You will assist in the development of various systems for accelerator control. These systems include detectors for beam imaging, electromagnets for beam shaping, and other similarly complex systems.
We are looking for a tech-savvy individual who has an interest in developing their career in the project management direction. You will be creating solutions that integrate software and hardware components, meaning you will never lose touch with the technical part of our work, even as a potential project manager in the future.
We understand that our domain is specialized, so don’t worry if you’re not familiar with accelerators; we will provide you with the necessary knowledge as you work with us.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Software development
- Developing software for communication with various accelerator devices.
- Preparing testing procedures and conducting tests on live systems.
- Collaborating with other developers through code reviews.
- Project management
- Monitoring project metrics and supporting the team with ideas and solutions for better execution.
- Participating in the sales process, understanding customer needs, and defining the project.
- Planning the project scope, task allocation, and managing human resources.
- Ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Required qualifications and skills
- Experience in software development.
- Basic programming knowledge.
- Proactivity and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build solid relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with a systematic approach to managing tasks and priorities.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience working with clients.
- Experience in leading software development projects.
- Experience in managing human resources, timelines, and meeting project goals.
- Interest in or experience within the scientific domain (particle accelerators, fusion energy, space,…).
Education
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
