
Senior Controls Engineer (Beckhoff TwinCAT & Motion Control)
About the role
Cosylab’s team, working on control systems for accelerators and complex medical devices for radiation therapy, is looking for a new team member.
As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will primarily work with Beckhoff TwinCAT and motion control, strengthening our PLC team and eventually taking on technical ownership of challenging projects in the medical domain. Your work will directly contribute to systems where precision and reliability are essential.

Key tasks and responsibilities
- Developing PLC software solutions in TwinCAT.
- Analyzing requirements, proposing technical solutions.
- Write clean, readable, and well-structured code.
- Documenting and thoroughly testing your work.
- Collaborating with the client and the internal teams.
- Gradually take on technical ownership of projects, delegate tasks, and mentor colleagues.
Required qualifications and skills
- Proven experience in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 programming and deployment.
- Strong understanding of motion control systems (servo drives, axes synchronization, kinematics).
- Proficiency in structured text (ST) and object-oriented programming concepts in TwinCAT.
- Experience with real-time PLC applications and fieldbus systems (e.g., EtherCAT).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Education
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Bonus points if you have
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with industrial automation safety standards and debugging tools.
- Knowledge of scripting and higher-level programming (Python, C#, …).
- Experience with GIT.
- Experience in collaboration in pre-sales engineering.
