
Software Engineer (m/f)
About the role
Cosylab’s team, which is working on control software for various scientific machines and facilities, is looking for a new team member!

As a software engineer, you would help develop a control system for one of the world’s largest projects for international cutting-edge research – FAIR.
We are looking for a tech-savvy individual who has an interest in developing their career in project management and team leadership direction over time. You will be creating solutions that integrate software and hardware components, meaning you won’t lose touch with the technical part of work, even as a potential project manager in the future.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Development in object-oriented programming languages (Java, C++).
- Software development for communication with various devices in the accelerator.
- Collaboration in creating architectural solutions, code development, and review.
- Analyzing requirements and defining technical specifications together with the client.
- Regular communication with the internal team and the client.
- Writing clean, readable, and well-structured code.
- Documenting and thoroughly testing own work.
Required qualifications and skills
- Experience in working with object-oriented programming languages (Java, C++).
- Proactivity and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of software design principles, programming techniques, and computer science fundamentals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build solid relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with a systematic approach to managing tasks and priorities.
Education
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience in leading software development projects and/or teams.
- Experience working with clients.
- Experience in hardware integration.
- Interest in or experience within the scientific domain (particle accelerators, fusion energy, space,…).
