Team Leader – Quantum Field (m/f)
About the role
We are looking for a motivated Team Leader to take over and eventually grow and develop our team working in the quantum field. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of versatile engineers, ensuring the successful completion of projects, and identifying new business opportunities to secure new work for your team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their leadership and business development skills and positively impact the organization.
Our team focuses on developing control systems for quantum applications. These systems include NV centers in a diamond, cold atoms, trapped ions, quantum key distribution, quantum computing, superconducting qubits, and other similarly complex quantum protocols and systems.
We understand that our domain is specialized, so don’t worry if you’re not familiar with it yet. We will provide you with the necessary knowledge as you work with us, nevertheless, proactiveness, resourcefulness, and a readiness to tackle and explore unknown challenges with curiosity are highly valued.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the Quantum team to achieve set goals.
- Plan and execute the team’s growth, ensuring long-term stability by coaching and onboarding new team members.
- Manage the career development of team members and conduct performance reviews.
- Participate in the pre-sales process, understand customers’ technical and project needs, and analyze their requirements.
- Actively participate in identifying new business opportunities and securing new projects for your team.
- Creatively solving challenges during complex projects using technical and people competencies.
Required qualifications and skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to balance business and team needs to meet expectations, timelines, and customer experience.
- Organizational skills with a systematic approach to managing tasks and priorities.
- Proactiveness and readiness to learn new technologies and tackle unknown challenges with curiosity and determination.
- An open mind for discussion and team collaboration.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Bonus points if you have
- Knowledge from the quantum physics field.
- Familiarity with FPGA programming or other languages (such as Python or C++).
- Experience in leading teams in customer-facing organizations (Services, Support).
- Experience working with clients.
- Experience in leading software or hardware development projects.
- Experience with EU grant applications.
