
Tech Lead - Software Development (m/f)

As a technical lead, you will be in charge of supporting and guiding a team of engineers on projects that contribute to research institutes reaching scientific breakthroughs in the field of fusion. What kind of projects we are talking about? Have you heard about ITER? It’s one of the most complex science projects in human history, designed to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion power. You will be leading the design and integration of control systems for ITER diagnostic systems.
We understand that our domain is specialized, so don’t worry if you’re not familiar with it yet. We will provide you with the necessary knowledge as you work with us, nevertheless, proactiveness, resourcefulness, and a readiness to tackle and explore unknown challenges with curiosity are highly valued.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Leading and aligning SW development and HW (PLCs, DAQ cards, custom devices…) integration activities.
- Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
- Participation in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding and addressing project stakeholders’ issues.
- Defining the project scope and technical requirements.
- Define the work breakdown structure, create time plans, and identify staffing needs for the project.
- Programming in C++, EPICS.
Required qualifications and skills
- Experience with software development (C++).
- Knowledge and experience with the complete SW lifecycle (gathering requirements, software design, implementation, deployment, maintenance).
- Understanding of SW & HW architecture.
- Experience in device integration and testing.
- Organizational skills with a systematic approach to managing tasks and priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- An open mind for discussion and team collaboration.
Education
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Bonus points if you have
- Knowledge about nuclear fusion.
- Basic understanding of FPGA, PLC.
- Experience with EPICS.
- Experience with Linux environment.
- Experience with uTCA, NI.
