
Tech Lead - Software Development (m/f)

About the role
We’re working on an exciting, novel cancer therapy software product involving multiple distributed components and workflows. As part of our team, you’ll lead a small team of engineers responsible for developing and implementing advanced medical physics algorithms. These algorithms will be pivotal in calculating radiation doses and optimizing radiation treatments using the power of modern GPUs.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team of 3–5 developers.
- Defining the project scope and technical requirements.
- Participate in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Define the work breakdown structure, create time plans, and identify staffing needs for the project.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members daily.
- Manage the career development of team members and conduct performance reviews.
- Help the team’s growth, ensuring long-term stability by coaching and onboarding new team members.
Required qualifications and skills
- 5+ years of software development experience, preferably in modern C++ or similar technologies (CUDA).
- Strong knowledge and experience with the complete SW lifecycle (gathering requirements, software design, implementation, deployment, maintenance), programming techniques, and computer science fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of physics (or at least willingness/desire to learn).
- Experience in mentoring juniors and supporting team members in making technical decisions (to organize tasks for both yourself and others).
- Leadership and people skills, with the capacity to guide a diverse team of engineers towards a common project goal.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to balance business and team needs to meet expectations, timelines, and customer requirements.
- An open mind for discussion and team collaboration.
Education
- At least B.Sc. in Physics (preferred), Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience with Linux, CUDA and GPU programming and Python scripting.
- Strong background in mathematics and computational techniques (numerical methods).
- Experience with medical physics.
