Medical Physicist
About the role
We are looking for a full-time Medical Physicist to support the development of a treatment planning system for radiation therapy. You’ll bring clinical evidence into product decisions, defining clinical workflows, authoring clinical acceptance criteria, and contributing to the clinical validation plan.
Your daily work will include clinical impact assessment of user needs and analysis of limitations affecting clinical acceptance. You’ll work alongside the clinical team and interact closely with engineering teams, product management and marketing to provide clinically relevant feedback on feature quality and workflows.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape next-generation software from the ground up, working alongside world-class clinical partners at some of the most respected cancer centers and hospitals worldwide.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Clinical workflow definition. Map the end-to-end treatment planning workflow for new functionalities planned for the roadmap, covering routine, complex, and edge-case clinical scenarios.
- Clinical acceptance criteria. Define acceptance criteria based on published standards and clinical practice.
- Clinical validation planning. Help shape the validation plan: select reference plans and phantom datasets, set pass/fail thresholds, and align with clinical, QA, and customer teams.
- Feedback assessment. Review customer and internal feedback through a clinical lens — translate issues into patient-safety and plan-quality to guide prioritization.
- Dose-engine evaluation. Build and run treatment plans to assess dose engine performance; surface limitations with quantitative evidence (DVH metrics, dose distributions, reference comparisons).
Required qualifications and skills
- 3+ years as a medical physicist or dosimetrist in radiation oncology, with hands-on clinical use of one or more treatment planning systems, including particle therapy treatment planning.
- Solid grasp of the end-to-end treatment planning workflow, including imaging, contouring, dose calculation, plan optimization, review, plan QA and treatment delivery.
- Ability to define and evaluate clinical acceptance criteria — dosimetric accuracy, plan quality, calculation speed, robustness.
- Strong communicator and collaborative problem-solver who can explain clinical reasoning to engineering, product, and marketing audiences.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Education
- At least an M.Sc. in Physics, Medical Physics or other related technical disciplines.
Bonus points if you have experience with
- Adaptive proton and/or photon therapy workflows.
- Commissioning of treatment planning systems.
- Clinical medical physicist certification (e.g., EFOMP, CAMPEP).
- Working with engineering and product teams in a software development environment (workflow diagram tools, agile delivery).
What we offer
- Employment contract for an indefinite period with a six-month probationary period.
- A work environment with flexible working hours and a hybrid work model.
- Plenty of personal and professional growth opportunities combined with a competitive and periodically updated salary tailored to your skills, experiences, and results.
- Interesting work full of challenges in an international working environment.
- Opportunities to work abroad.
- High-impact learning culture: regular in-house and external training sessions and a team of international professionals eager to help you grow.
- Many recreational after-work activities, additional health insurance (Specialists+), unlimited coffee, soft drinks, fruit, and other well-being goodies.
- Cosylab events (Teambuilding, New Year’s Party, Picnic … ).
