BRT Participation and Particle Therapy Exploration
In February 2025, our CEO, Dr Mark Pleško, visited Japan to participate in the 26th annual meeting of the EU-Japan Business Round Table (BRT) which was held in Tokyo (EU-Japan Business Round Table | EU-Japan).

At the meeting, 92 members from European and Japanese representative industries consisting of large companies and SMEs, business federations, and government officials gathered to exchange views on issues relating to industrial and economic competitiveness and cooperation.
Mark was a co-leader in Working Party 4,” Environment & Sustainable Development“, with Mr. Shigehiko Tanaka, Senior Executive Vice President of NEC Corporation, and summarized the session with the most relevant points.
While in Japan, Mark and Takashi Yazawa from the Japanese subsidiary of Cosylab also visited some of the country’s top-tier particle therapy facilities and vendors. One of them is East Japan Heavy Ion Center (EJHIC), Faculty of Medicine, Yamagata University (East Japan Heavy Ion Center, Faculty of Medicine, Yamagata University).

Prof. Takeo Iwai, Director of EJHIC, and his colleague medical experts warmly welcomed us, and we exchanged our experiences and expertise in the accelerator physics and particle therapy fields while also speaking of future potential collaborations.
After the meeting, Prof. Iwai extended us a tour of the facility, where the compact superconducting rotating gantry for heavy ion therapy and a sophisticated treatment by multiple-angle irradiation could be observed. We were very impressed and expressed our willingness to support any improvement in the facility.
